Construction crews often use diagrams to work out changes to plans before they set foot on worksites. But it is the building that they are concerned with; the diagram is secondary and often only for their eyes.
Similarly, product teams often rely on whiteboard spaces to share diagrams illustrating processes or goals. They are making a product together; the diagram is just for their use. Diagrams like these are places where decisions are made, so we must have both audiences in mind at once.…
